We are dedicated to helping individuals heal by fostering emotional well-being, self-discovery, and meaningful connection.

Through a safe and supportive environment, we empower our clients to cultivate inner harmony, build healthier relationships, and create fulfilling lives.

Compassionate counseling for adults and teens on the path to wellness

Theraputic Approach

Our aim is to help clients process painful experiences, improve emotional regulation, and build healthier coping strategies. Sessions are collaborative and tailored to each person’s unique needs, providing both a safe space to heal and practical tools to create meaningful change.

Family Incorporation

Because struggles often affect more than just the individual, we also incorporate family members into counseling when it is helpful for healing and growth. Whether through joint sessions or supporting healthier communication, this collaborative approach strengthens relationships and creates a more supportive environment for lasting change.

About Me

Hi, I’m Erika Hughes, a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified EMDR Therapist. Since earning my master’s degree in counseling from Virginia Tech in 2005, I’ve had the privilege of working with adults and teens in many different settings—schools, hospitals, community mental health agencies, and outpatient substance use programs. Each experience has shaped the way I show up as a therapist: grounded, compassionate, and deeply committed to helping people heal.

I specialize in working with clients who are navigating anxiety, depression, grief, emotional instability, substance use concerns, addiction, trauma, and attachment wounds. These struggles can feel overwhelming and isolating, and I believe no one should have to carry them alone.

My Approach

At the heart of my work, I am an EMDR therapist. I view the challenges individuals face—whether anxiety, depression, grief, substance use, or relationship struggles—through the lens of how past experiences continue to shape the present. Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing offers a way to help the brain and body reprocess painful memories, so they no longer feel as overwhelming or defining.

While EMDR is the foundation of my work, I also integrate parts work—drawing from approaches such as Internal Family Systems, ego state therapy, and other therapeutic interventions. These approaches support clients in understanding themselves more fully and developing practical skills for everyday life.

This combination allows me to not only help heal the wounds of the past, but also to foster resilience, cultivate emotional balance, and support healthier ways of moving forward.

My role is to walk alongside you with compassion and curiosity, helping you uncover the patterns that no longer serve you and creating space for new possibilities to emerge.

Clinical Supervision and EMDR Consultation
In addition to counseling, I provide clinical supervision for individuals seeking licensure as professional counselors. My goal as a supervisor is to create a supportive and educational space where developing clinicians can deepen their skills, strengthen their confidence, and grow into ethical, reflective practitioners. Supervision sessions emphasize case consultation, professional development, and self-awareness, tailored to the supervisee’s stage
of training and individual goals.

I am also an EMDR Consultant. In this role, I support clinicians in refining their EMDR practice, increasing their confidence in applying the model, and integrating EMDR with other therapeutic modalities in a way that best serves their clients.
